Just one more question, if I can? Where did you obtain this CSV from?
If you can, you may want to let them know and they may be able to remove it - it is obviously incorrect.

Thanks.

As I said, you have a point located at the north pole in this import. Please see line 65 of your supplied file:
5.63393, 90.00000, "BE Radar fixe BE 120"

This is also what the message "Preparing POI Locations - Process POI 65/2596" you see is referring to when the ISO generation hangs prior to the out of memory. Line 65 out of 2596.

Remove this line from the file any you will be able to create an ISO successfully.

Sorry for any inconvenience caused. I can also confirm this is unfortunately NOT fixed in the latest Beta. I will need to investigate this further your other issues with regard to the coverage areas. However the above fix should get you working for now.

I can also confirm that the "out of memory" issue is ONLY a problem if you import POI that are extremely close to the north or south poles (90 degrees north or south longitude). You shouldn't experience this issue with any other out of coverage area POIs.

Kind Regards, Stuart.

Hi,

Sorry you are still having problems.

If you would like to send me the POI file you are using to the support e-mail then I can identify and fix this issue.

Or as I said earlier you can manually verify the POI and check for out of coverage area POI. In the last file with this issue it was just one or two POI, located at the end of the file. I believe they were located at the north pole - i.e. 90deg latitude, which is what is causing this exact error.

Kind Regards, Stuart.

Hi Pierrotori,
Sorry you are having problems.
This can be caused by POI which are outside of the European mapping area. For example located at the North pole with Longitude 90 degrees, etc.
Please examine the contents of the POI file and check for any "unusual" POI locations and remove them before importing.
Alternatively there is a beta version, which I believe resolves this issue:
NavPOInt Beta 1.0.3.0

Hi Pierrotori,

Not currently, sorry. The best you might be able to do is mimic the Garmin ZIP file format. That would allow you to create a single main category with multiple sub-categories, each with their own sub-icon. But for additional main categories you'd need to repeat the process.

A good suggestion for a future enhancement - the ability to import from a folder of CSVs with associated icons.

Thanks, Stuart.

Hello,

First of, thanks for excellent software. I'm very happy to have POI layer with speed cameras on my navigation DVD. The only issue is perhaps lack of Mac support.

Now I noticed a video about 'coming in 2011' full UK postcode search:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1F0pgcd4ZLk

Great stuff. Have you guys finished implementing this functionality?

Many thanks.

pcbbc on "Why is my ISO image smaller than the original?"

When adding extra POIs the overall size of the DVD ISO image is smaller than the original. Why is this?

The NavPOInt authored ISO is simply more compact due to re-authoring and optimization of the file systems contained within it.

For example the RNS-E does not use or require the Joliet or UDF file systems which are also present on the Audi original disks. UDF has a particularly large overhead. Base ISO 9960 support is all that is required by the RNS-E's embedded operating system. Rest assured that nothing needed by the RNS-E is in any way missing.

Please compare the sizes of the individual FILES within the ISO image, not the overall size of the image itself, which includes these redundant file system overheads. If you do this you will see all the files are at least the same size, or larger where additional POI data has been added.

When adding UK Postcodes the overall size of the DVD ISO image is smaller than the original. Why is this?

As well as the file system savings described above, there are additional optimizations to be made to the Audi postcode databases.

The supplied postcode database contains many streets listed several times over, even though they occur only once in a postcode area. For example streets in Orpington are listed under both LONDON and ORPINGTON town names. While this is helpful when searching by town (you can find these streets by entering either name) it is pointless when duplicated in the postcode index and database.

We have therefore removed these duplicates from the postcode database ONLY, thus saving a considerable amount of space on the re-authored DVD. Rest assured that full street name searching by either TOWN name is still possible, as we have ONLY optimized the postcode data.

The savings made from this, and other similar optimizations and corrections, are so extensive that they more than compensate for the increased data require for over 1.5 million postcode to individual street names and their respective locations.

The compatible DVD burner on the list have been tested by others. But yes, they must be able to burn DVD-ROM - either directly or with use of an appropriate bit-setting tool. For example Nero, DVD Decrypter, imgburn etc.
Booktype/Bitsetting FAQ

The only burner I have personally tested is the LiteON eTAU108. This burns DVD-ROM booktype if you set it first using the supplied LiteON utility Book Type 1.35

Also navPOInt includes code to set the booktype automatically for LiteON drives if you use the internal burn option. This is the drive I use for all of my NavPOInt test disks, and so comes personally recommended.

You have a list of compatble DVD burners, which i assume are recomnended since they burn DVD ROM ?

Also you highly recomend the LiteOn eTAU108, does this also burn DVD ROM ?

are you saying that with the "booktype123" tool you can set it to burn DVD ROM ?

If you are looking for a compatible DVD burner to use with NavPOInt, then I can not recommend the LiteON eTAU108 range of external USB drives highly enough.

The drive is available in either white (eTAU108-01) or black (eTAU108-02) so as to suite your personal tastes and/or other computing equipment.

These drives are widely available from online stores and other retail outlets. When ordering please make sure you do NOT confuse with the near identical looking eTDU108 which is a DVD/CD reader only (no burning support).

In addition NavPOInt can correctly set the disk booktype on these drives when using NavPOInt's built in burning feature. Alternatively a tool is available from LiteON to do this manually if you so wish (for use with external burning applications which may not support this feature):
Manual
LiteON Book Type Utility 1.35

Please discuss your personal experiences with this drive in the forums.

Unfortunately we are currently experiencing an outage with our ISP which has taken our registration and licening server offline.

As a result all NavPOInt users are currently receiving the message "Communication error with webserver. Please check your internet connection."

Please be assured we are doing everything possible to make sure our servers are back on-line as soon as possible. Please be patient while we work with our service provider to restore connectivity, and accept our apologies for any inconvenience this outage is currently causing.

pcbbc on "Is NavPOInt compatible with my Audi Ax?"

Sorry - We only support the Audi RNS-E Satellite Navigation System.

An RNS-E is easily recognised by the following features:
* The words "Audi Navigation plus" appear on the bezel below the screen
* The Navigation DVD is inserted in the slot concealed behind the fold down screen (also two SD card readers)
* All of the buttons and knobs for controlling the system are located on the unit itself (NOT elsewhere in the car)

We support both the pre-2010 and enhanced 2010 onwards RNS-E models.

Do you support the MMI system in in Ax?

Rather confusingly Audi use the term MMI to refer to two completely different systems when they are equipped to play MP3's from external devices (iPods and external hard drive players).

The RNS-E comes with an optional MMI add on and is as otherwise described above. This is branded as RNS-E (with MMI interface) by Audi. These system IS compatible with NavPOInt.

Additionally Audi have navigation systems which have a built in hard drive and are variously branded as MMI and/or HDD-based, such as on the current A8 and other models. These systems are NOT compatible with NavPOInt.

Will you be adding support for the true MMI systems?

Audi have gone to great lengths to make both the RNS-E (with optional MMI) and the true MMI systems look and work the same. They are however based on totally different hardware with completely different mapping and POI data formats.

As such it is extremely unlikely that we will ever add support for these platforms as our experience is exclusively with the RNS-E hardware platform and map data format.

Sorry.

With the full version you can burn unlimited numbers of DVDs for your own personal use. There are absolutely no imposed restrictions.
Each DVD can have different POI, so for example you could update your camera database on a weekly/monthly basis - how often is entirely up to you.

Excelent Software , thank you

works fine, it's a pity to be so expensive :-(

It's a very expensive for me to pay £75.0 . You could do a PRO version and a Lite version,
